Job Role of the PPM Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

This role is heavily focused on planned preventative maintenance (PPM), making it ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys maintaining machinery reliability, improving equipment performance, and working in a structured maintenance environment.

You will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance and repairs across a wide range of bakery and packaging machinery, ensuring smooth production and minimal downtime.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the PPM Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

  • Time-served, apprentice-trained Engineer (4-year apprenticeship)

Requirements for the PPM Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience working on conveyors, mixers, depositors, and packaging machinery
  • Knowledge of bearings, shafts, rotating equipment, and gearboxes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals
  • Experience working within time constraints to maintain production efficiency

Desirable Requirements for the PPM Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

  • Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG environments
  • Basic electrical fault-finding capability
  • Experience working with robotic or automated machinery
