Job Title – Production Shift Manager
Location: Thatcham, Berkshire
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000
Shift: Rotating Early & Late Shifts (Mon–Fri)
Job Role of the Production Shift Manager
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Production Shift Manager to join a well-established and growing FMCG manufacturing business operating within a high-volume production environment. Following continued investment and strong market demand, the site is expanding and offers a stable and progressive environment for experienced leaders within manufacturing.
You will be responsible for leading a production shift of approximately 20 direct reports, including operators and line leaders, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role (approximately 70% operational, 30% office-based), requiring a proactive and visible presence on the shop floor.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Production Shift Manager

Minimum 2 years’ supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment.

Proven ability to lead teams and manage shift-based operations.
-
Strong understanding of Health & Safety standards.
Requirements for the Production Shift Manager
-
Experience managing production teams and line leaders in a fast-paced environment.
-
Ability to ensure production KPIs and targets are consistently achieved.
-
Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
-
Experience conducting return-to-work interviews and managing employee relations.
-
Working knowledge of HACCP, hygiene standards, and food safety compliance.
-
Ability to attend internal production and operational meetings.
-
Strong communication and leadership skills with a firm but fair approach.
-
Ability to be hands-on and support operations when required.
-
Experience driving team performance and operational efficiency.
Desirable Requirements for the Production Shift Manager

Strong experience working in FMCG or food production environments.

Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience.
