Lead Mechanical Engineer
Location: Sittingbourne, Kent
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 (Dependant on Experience)
Shift: Monday to Friday Days
We are recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a leading industrial manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineering leader or someone aspiring to be an engineering lead who enjoys problem solving, planning maintenance activities, and leading teams within a fast-paced heavy industrial environment. The role is approximately 75% leadership, planning, and problem solving, with 25% hands-on mechanical support when required.
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a particular machines, leading a team of Mechanical Shift Fitters and ensuring machinery reliability and performance targets are achieved. You will also play a key role in maintenance planning, contractor management, shutdown coordination, and continuous improvement activities across the plant.

Requirements for the Lead Mechanical Engineer:
- Mechanical Engineering Qualification
- Worked in a Heavy/Industrial Manufacturing Environment
- Planned and reactive maintenance experience
- Continuous Improvement background
Desirable Requirements for the Lead Mechanical Engineer:
- Apprentice Trained Engineer
- Leadership Experience but would consider an Aspirational Engineer
