Development Technologist (Maternity Cover) - 12 MONTH FTC
Location: Daventry, Northamptonshire 
Salary: £34,000–£35,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday

About Us:
We are a leading international bakery manufacturer, producing a wide range of products supplied to major supermarkets across the UK. Our Daventry site produces over 100 tonnes of cakes weekly and prides itself on innovation, quality, and sustainability.

The Role:
We are seeking a Development Technologist to join our team on a maternity cover basis. You will support Engineering and Production teams, ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and development of bakery processes and machinery. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing engineering support and executing maintenance activities across production and packaging lines.

  • Conducting inspections, verifications, and recording interventions in our maintenance system.

  • Supporting small project work, modifications, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives (5S, RCA, 5 Why).

  • Assisting and coaching production teams in machine inspections and basic maintenance.

  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental legislation, and company quality standards.

Our Equipment Includes:

  • 8 production lines (Mixers, Conveyors, Depositors, Hoists, Flow Wrappers)

  • 5 packaging lines (Cutting, Depositing, Packaging, Cleaning equipment, Motors & Pumps, Emergency Lighting)

Requirements:

  • Degree/HND in Food Science, Bakery Science, Chemistry, or equivalent (Masters preferred)

  • Experience in a development role within food
