Production Team Leader

Salary: £35,100 per annum + Paid Overtime
Permanent | Full Time (45 hours per week)
Location: Carmarthenshire, Llanelli

We are recruiting Production Team Leaders for a well-established and growing food manufacturing site specialising in retail packing and slow-cooked products. This is not an abattoir environment.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on running an efficient production line, leading from the front, and supporting teams to consistently deliver high-quality products.

The Role

As Production Team Leader, you will support the smooth and efficient operation of a production line, managing 8–12 operatives on shift. While this is not a heavily people-management focused role, you’ll be confident stepping in where needed, managing processes, and keeping production on track.

You’ll report directly into the Shift Manager and play a key role in ensuring standards are met across Safety, Quality, Hygiene, Cost and Output.

A structured 6-week training programme is already in place, giving you the tools to succeed and helping teams perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the production line is fully prepared and ready to start on time

  • Run lines in line with agreed standard run rates

  • Carry out pre-start checks and escalate labour or operational issues promptly

  • Identify and communicate machine issues to Engineering to minimise downtime

  • Plan and organise labour to meet production plans and working time regulations

Team Leadership & Communication

  • Deliver clear shift briefs, discussing KPIs and resolving issues

  • Build positive working relationships across production, engineering and management

  • Promote teamwork, flexibility and a strong sense of ownership within the team

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, environmental and health & safety compliance

  • Ensure products meet specification and quality standards at all times

Continuous Improvement & Projects

  • Support site and departmental improvement initiatives

  • Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality and team performance

About You

  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience in a manufacturing or production environment

  • Strong understanding of production processes and line efficiency

  • Comfortable managing small teams and stepping in hands-on when required

  • Clear communicator with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset

  • Committed to quality, safety and continuous improvement

What’s On Offer

  • £35,100 salary (£15 per hour)

  • Paid overtime (often 30 minutes early starts, paid at 1.25x)

  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays

  • Pension contribution (3%)

  • Stable, permanent role within a growing business

  • Future progression opportunities due to ongoing site development
