Location: Duxford, Cambridge (CB22 area)
Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 per annum + excellent benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week (weekly rotating shifts: 6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm, Monday–Friday)
Employment Type: Permanent

We are a global chemical manufacturing organisation with a long-standing reputation for innovation and high-quality production. The Duxford site is a key manufacturing and distribution hub, supporting a wide range of industrial and specialist products and employing approximately 200 people.


The Role

We are seeking a Senior Warehouse Operator to join our Supply Chain team at a chemical manufacturing site in Duxford. Working closely with the Warehouse Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient handling, storage and movement of chemicals, raw materials and finished goods.

You will act as a role model for safety and operational excellence, supporting daily warehouse operations and helping to maintain high standards across the team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Warehouse Team Leader in delivering daily operational plans

  • Allocate work to warehouse operators as directed

  • Act as a role model within the Site Behavioural Safety Programme, promoting a zero-harm culture

  • Carry out advanced warehouse activities, including tanker offloading and handling high-risk materials

  • Operate FLT equipment safely and accurately (approximately 60–70% of the role)

  • Offload and put away raw materials efficiently and safely

  • Pick, deliver and manage raw materials and packaging to meet production schedules

  • Collect and store finished goods from production

  • Manage unloading of lorries and deliveries

  • Complete cycle counts and stock checks to ensure inventory accuracy

  • Liaise with Production, Logistics and Team Leaders to meet operational objectives

  • Ensure compliance with SOPs and EHS standards, reporting and investigating incidents and near misses

  • Maintain a ‘World Class’ 5S warehouse environment

  • Deputise for the Warehouse Team Leader during periods of absence

  • Participate in shift handovers and whiteboard meetings


What We’re Looking For

We are looking for reliable, proactive individuals with strong attention to detail and a positive attitude. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse environment (chemical sector desirable)

  • Strong leadership or mentoring experience

  • Forklift Truck licences (Counterbalance, Reach, VNA) or willingness to train

  • Knowledge of SAP or similar Warehouse Management Systems

  • Good computer literacy (MS Office)

  • Excellent communication and team-working skills

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) preferred

  • High standards of health and safety awareness

  • Physical fitness and adaptability to changing priorities
