An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Birmingham. Working as part of a close-knit engineering team, you will support the maintenance of a variety of production machinery through planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown response and continuous improvement activities, helping to ensure maximum equipment reliability and minimal production downtime.

Sector: Manufacturing / Factory Maintenance

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery
• Support response to electrical and mechanical breakdowns in a timely manner
• Assist in diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime
• Support continuous improvement projects to improve machinery reliability and efficiency
• Complete maintenance documentation accurately
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise plant performance
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures

Essential Requirements

• Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills
• Experience supporting planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance activities
• Recognised mechanical engineering qualification
• A proactive approach with good problem-solving abilities

Desirable Experience

• Experience working within UK manufacturing
• Exposure to automated production machinery
• Continuous improvement experience
