Logistics Manager – Reading

Salary: £45,000 – £48,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible start times between 7am and 9am)
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

An established national service provider within the hospitality and industrial sector is seeking an experienced and motivated Logistics Manager to lead operations at their Reading site.

This is a key leadership role, heading up a busy logistics department that plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth delivery and collection of goods and services to customers across the region. You will manage a team consisting of one Supervisor and 14 Drivers, operating a mixed fleet of trucks and vans.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all transport and logistics operations on site, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

  • Manage, train, and motivate a team of drivers and logistics personnel to achieve departmental KPIs and service excellence.

  • Maintain compliance with all relevant transport legislation, vehicle inspections, and driver regulations.

  • Control logistics budgets, monitor operational costs, and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency improvements.

  • Plan and coordinate routes, schedules, and workloads to maximise fleet utilisation and minimise downtime.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of logistics within the wider business operation.


Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a Logistics or Warehouse Management role.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability in budget control, cost management, and performance analysis.

  • Thorough understanding of transport compliance and regulations.

  • Flexible and proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • An HGV Licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
