Mechanical Design Engineer

Working from home

Solidworks (or similar)

Experience designing Material handling equipment, lifting equipment, conveyors

£35,000 - £40,000

This highly reputable, market leading business has been successfully operating for over 50 years. Due to an increase in production they are currently recruiting for an experienced mechanical design engineer using solidworks. You can work from home for this role and as such live anywhere within the UK

Skills required for Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Minimum of three years experience designing bulk materials handling, drying and storage machinery.
  • Experience of using Solidworks or similar system.
  • Experience of producing detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and bills of materials.
  • Experience of using MRP software.
  • Experience of liaising with production and site installation teams would be advantageous.

Product Design - designated product owner for part of the range, this would involve;

  • Liaison with the Design Office Manager and other interested parties to understand the product requirements.
  • Research solutions to meet the product requirements.
  • Specify and obtain quotes for components.
  • Produce a design which meets the product requirements utilising SolidWorks.
  • Develop prototypes where necessary.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials and input them to our MRP software.

Re-Engineering Existing Designs

  • Interpret documentation produced by the Sales Office to identify customer requirements.
  • Re-engineer existing designs to meet these requirements within budget.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials and input them to our MRP software.

Additional duties

As part of a small but energetic team driven by customer service there will occasionally be the need to assist in areas such as;

  • Programming of CNC equipment
  • Configuring and programming PLC units
  • Answering technical queries from the field
  • Creating/updating user manuals and technical support information
